Born on December 17, 1914, in Indore, Syed Mushtaq Ali made history by becoming the first Indian cricketer to score a century in a Test match outside India. Playing at Old Trafford, Mushtaq Ali’s knock of 112 runs, including 17 boundaries, was a major moment for Indian cricket. His partnership with Vijay Merchant in that match is still remembered as a perfect example of aggressive batting.

Although he didn’t play many international games, his first-class career was nothing short of legendary. In 226 matches, he scored 13,213 runs, hitting 30 centuries and 63 fifties. He was also a good left-arm spinner, taking 162 wickets in first-class cricket.
